Weeks have been busy

26th April  2016

Weeks have flown by.. It is week 5 already? When did that Happen.
Well interestingly enough it happened as we lost ourselves in the work.

This past month has been interesting, New Ward, New Type of People, New Challenges, New Good Times, Most importantly though is that it has been a New Experience.

Experiences are the things that make up who we are, and who we are is how we react to new experiences. The whole idea of serving a mission is a new experience in such a way that the only way you can comprehend is if you yourself go on a mission.

We had an interesting time this week, but a few things stood out and have stuck out for me.
One is an experience with a 80? year old Yugoslavian. He was an interesting fellow, told us alot about his life, some things... we did not need to know, others... we definitely did not need to know. But as I reflect on that encounter it reminded me of something that I have heard frequently throughout my life. I am A Child Of God, And he loves me. As well as me, he loves everyone of his spirit children here on this earth that, have, are, or will be. It is amazing to think that this man although alone and not very interested in living certain principles of the Gospel was a Child Of our Heavenly Father and that although all of us do wrong, he still loves us. Amazing that it is also the First Principle of the Gospel, The most sung song in the Church and the First Article of Faith.

The Second Experience was interesting. While out door knocking we came across a lady who clearly had no interest in hearing us. However she told us to "Go be boys" Immediately sprang in to my mind a talk from D todd Christofferson if I am correct, "let us be men"and also a quote from John Taylor.

When Told:We are not like other men
JT" We know it, we don't want to be. We want to be like God"

Washing Whites?

29th March  2016

Nope I heard Wrong

White Washing!
Me and My new (And First) American Companion have been white washed into the Enoggera ward.

My New Companion is Elder Banks who is from Salt Lake City, Salt Lake City. So he's actually from the City part of it.

Had a pretty cool first day in the area, It was P-day Yesterday and because it was a public Holiday we get to email today.

Our area is MASSIVE not like Townsville area Massive but it is a big area, luckily from what we have been told there is a lot of Train Stations in our area and the bus system is pretty good. (Perks of being a city ward I guess). Which means we have some great places to ask people that Golden Question. What else....

I also said goodbye to My Favourite Puerto Rican in the World Elder Acevedo Crespo. going to miss him. Especially with the fact that we spent 21 weeks together.

Looking forward to this area. It is really hilly as well so it looks like it is going to be an uphill battle for a little while. But it is alright because we'll take the climb! (guess where that is from Haha)

Anyways not much I can tell you apart from.. We had a Baptism in Bellbird Park just before I left our investigator/PM Zephaniah Got baptised and it was an awesome privilege as he asked me to baptise him.
So Happy So Glad. But also Sad as I left a lot of people that I grew close with in that area. Now to make the Most I can out of the New area.

Week 9, Nien, Woche IX

21st March  2016

This week is the last week of this transfer. At first it went by pretty slowly and honestly I am surprised a little that I haven't died because of the heat in this area. But all is well I am still alive and kicking (I mean Teaching)

This week was pretty awesome had the best miracle ever.... 4 Investigators @ Sacrament!!! Haven't had that my Whole mission, This has been a good week. Hopefully, No... I am going to continue to smash this area and leave it thriving. I had a good sit down the other day and thought to myself what things do I need to do to be a more effective missionary and companion, and then I asked the same things for my companionship... And I got basically the same list. So the Answer is to strengthen the companionship I need to strengthen myself.

How funny is it that the Lord works that way. A few weeks ago I was able to sit down and Listen to the talk What lack I yet? And it was an awesome time for me to reflect and ponder on all the things that I am learning and how I can apply them to my life. (Still having a bit of trouble with the Apply part that I am still going to Do my best (Do or do not there is no Try) to be able to apply the things I learn)

Okay I hope that all of your weeks have been well, great, hopefully fantastic, Stupendous, Super, awesome(That's my favourite word and I use it way too much), marvellous

Ich liebe euch alle

Bye! Auf Wiedersehen

(Yes I'm going to start using German Words, Because everyone thinks I'm German Lang lebe der König)

Oooh Actually Funny story..

So I was In the  Mission office the other Day and one of the Senior Sisters comes up and asks me
What's Your Name "Elder Fankhauser
where are you From. "New Zealand"
"Oh no you must be from America" She replies

Apparently I am Also American. (Let the Star-Spangled Banner Wave)

10 months.. Say What?!

14th March  2016

Man this time last year I was working saving up money for .. my mission and also getting prepared for a two week holiday to Utah!
as well as that two years ago was the First time I worked at Macca's
And three years ago I was sitting in School ready for I think Biology.
And 21 years ago. Well I wasn't born yet so I am still good.

One thing I realized well today - because I like to realize stuff.
if I go home at the end of the same transfer as the rest of my intake I will go home two days before my birthday.

Anyway that's ages away so I don't have to worry about that right now.

But One thing I do know is that these next few weeks as we finish of the 9 week transfer are going to be hard working and exciting. Have had some awesome fun in this area so far and I am pretty keen to keep it rolling for a little longer.

I only have two minutes left so.. It'll be quick

Moroni 10:32
Probably going to be my favourite scripture ever. But we are to deny ourselves the things that would not lead us to God, so imperfections. it fits so well with the atonement and defines the atonement in such a simple way

Well I love you all, Bye!

Wired In

29th February  2016

So now It gets down to the nitty and the gritty part of a mission, those last few months of the first year, the time I guess that will establish you for the rest of your mission.

I have been improving, ... I think. I have definitely realized that there is alot of me that I need to fix and improve, and I had the oppurtunity to read a little about the story of the rich young man and what he asked Jesus "What lack I yet?" I think this is definitely a question that I am going to continue to ask myself throughout the rest of my mission.

This week, I had a new wire put in for my braces, a little uncomfortable for the first day but they are fine now, and then just 40 minutes ago I got some wonderful motherly advice regarding after my braces and that was to keep them in always. So I shall do that. So everyone keep me accountable, because truth be told I get Lazy and I will forget.... By the time I get the retainers though I will probably have to remind everyone anyway... So hopefully I don't forget that.

Mowed someones lawn that we knocked into this last week and hopefully left a good impression for future missionaries to come.

Apart from probably listing all the other activities I did this week. I will probably have to say that this has been a good revelatory week.

We had a stake broadcast (a Pacific area one) and It talked about four things.
Pray
Read Your Scriptures
Do Missionary work
Do Family History

Ok Love you all

Bye! :D

Sweet is the Word The Gospel Sounds

24th  February  2016

This has been an amazing experience.

Being able to go to 2 mission tours before even being a year out.

The Spirit that I have felt has been amazing. I have also had the oppurtunity to learn alot about repentance and If I have time next week I will send off my talk on repentance.

Repentance is real and it is the thing that changes and moulds us into being a Christlike person and a Christlike example for others. Of course none of us are going to be perfect in this life but we can try.

Actually no we can do for as Yoda said "Do or do not, There is no try"
I think it was Yoda. It was a wise old man that said it and Yoda is the oldest one I know of.

I don't have much time so I love you all and am thankful for all the things that you have contributed to me being me, it takes a village to raise a child however for me I am pretty sure it took 2.

Love You, Be Safe, Accident free, Lollies for me.
(Its an ABM thing :D)
